Our History

In 2001, Pathana Panyathip decided to build a school for Lao nationals. Our founder wanted the students to experience an education with international standards while upholding Lao values and cultures. In its first year, the school offered Kindergarten to Grade 3 with a total of 38 students and 12 teachers.

From these humble beginnings, the school has undergone a remarkable transformation. Since the number of students (including foreign students) has grown rapidly, the school has moved twice from the first campus in Naxay Village, Saysettha District, to the present site in Sapanthong Neua, Sisattanak District. Also, to accommodate the demands for our Kindergarten School, a separate campus in Sapanthong Tai, Sisattanak District, was also built.

In 2015, Panyathip opened another purpose-built campus in Savannakhet in order to assist the development of the province by providing high-quality British international education for locals and expats.

In 2017, a second Kindergarten was opened in Nonsavanh village.

In 2018, a purpose-built Primary school close to the Kindergarten was opened, making the school unique in Laos by providing purpose-built facilities for all three major phases of learning.

The Story Behind Panyathip British International School

The inspiration behind our school came from my daughter 20 years ago. She refused to go to school and cried every day. Even after trying out two to three different schools, she still seemed uncomfortable and unhappy. That was when I decided to build a school for her. My dream school is one where my daughter would enjoy school every day as well as offer a variety of subjects in many languages, be it in Lao, English or Chinese.

We started with 68 students, including my daughter. Now, we have over a thousand students. This has made me realise the true meaning and purpose of why I built this school. Students are our prime focus, and I wish to see our students living a happy school life with a bright future ahead of them. I sincerely hope they all become who they wish to be and be just like our slogan: Become the Best that You can Be.
